Dr. Valeh Karimkhani, D.O. is an adolescent and adult psychiatrist, dual board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. She is the founder of Orange County Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Karimkhani is currently Medical Director at Windward Way, Casa Capri, Luminance, Hope by the Sea, Casa Recovery, Spencer, South Shores Recovery, and others. Previously, Dr. Karimkhani served as Chief of Psychiatry Consult Liaison services at Hoag Hospital in both Newport Beach and Irvine.
In addition to clinical duties, Dr. Karimkhani is an adjunct professor, teaching medical students during clinical rotations from Midwestern University. OCPAM also provides pro bono psychiatric care to clients in conjunction with a local community health program.
Dr. Karimkhani, was born and raised in Denver CO, where she completed her undergraduate studies with a double major in biology and chemistry. She attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health and Science Center, College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her internship was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and she completed her psychiatry residency at University of Colorado Health and Science Center in 2007, with an emphasis in adolescent psychiatry.
Dr. Karimkhani has been dedicated to serving the psychiatric needs of her community. She has extensive experience in emergency psychiatry, dual diagnosis, trauma, substance abuse, and adolescent psychiatry. She is also one of a select few psychiatrists offering TMS treatment. Additionally, patients struggling with substance dependence are offered ambulatory detox services if needed, as well as treatment with Vivitrol.
Dr. Karimkhani is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves, and has completed three tours of duty in the Middle East. She is dedicated to helping and healing our American heroes and soldiers.
